I purchased this mainly for the flare tool, but I can't really see where it makes any difference at all.
The unit overall does strip the cable. We're using it for quad-shielded RG6. It does remove some of the shielding, which we don't really like. There is no adjustments to prevent this. It does not handle RG-11 (but doesn't state that it does, so I don't consider that really a negative). We found the much cheaper Klein Tools VDV110-295 we have seems to be a much better buy, even though it's less expensive. I didn't have much hope for the Klein one because of how it looked, but it strips coax and ethernet (shielded, unshielded, etc) without taking any of the shielding off. Perfect each time!
Both the Klein Tools and the Belden Tool (this one) does perfect 1/4" x 1/4".
